Types of Braces

Metal braces

Traditional metal braces are made of high grade stainless steel. They are the least expensive and most widely used.  New versions of these braces are made of stainless steel and nickel titanium, and feature small brackets that are bonded to each tooth. These brackets can be decorated with ligatures that come in several types of colors.  Your color ties will be changes every time you come in to have your braces adjusted, which is typically every 6 to 8 weeks.

Ceramic braces

Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. Due to their cosmetic appeal, they are more popular among teenagers and adults.  They will correct and move the teeth in the same amount of time and in the same way as traditional metal braces, but are not as noticible. A self ligating bracket is used to avoid any staining or discoloration that can sometimes occur with clear brackets.

Gold braces

Gold braces are used to treat patients who are allergic to nickel.

Invisalign®

Invisalign aligners are suitable for patients with mild orthodontic problems. Invisalign is popular among teenagers and adults because they are a great way to get straight teeth and a beautiful smile without braces.  At your initial consultation the Doctor will determine if Invisalign is right for you.  Invisalign uses a series of clear, invisible trays to gradually and effectively move teeth into the correct position.  You will wear each set of aligners for 2 weeks at a time, and will be seen in our office every 8 weeks.
